How To Create the Best Ecommerce Product Pages

Insights

Many companies can profit from Ecommerce, which is a very popular business model. Ecommerce makes it possible to sell products online and not have to open a physical shopfront. Ecommerce allows you to do most of your marketing online.

Unless you have a special deal with a manufacturer or are selling unique products, it’s hard to stand out and convince customers that you’re the best.

What’s your plan? Get creative.

1. Write unique titles for products

When creating content for an ecommerce site, you must first consider the products of your business.

Every product that you sell must have a unique name. Keep track of all product names.

Many product titles can be created using a simple formula.

  1. Brand name (Sony/Panasonic Hamilton Beach)
  2. Product identification number (AKS74U).
  3. Size and/or color (Red, blue, orange; 12″, 3, 30, yards).
  4. General product name (DVD player/speakers, toaster, etc.)

Additional details, such as production dates or materials, can be added to the product.

It doesn’t matter what you do, each product on your website must have an identifiable title.

2. Write unique descriptions for products

Every product you sell must have a unique name and description.

You might be tempted to copy and paste product descriptions without making any changes. Each page must contain a unique description

It is possible to have duplicate content. This could lead to poor rankings and Google penalties.

Make sure that every product you sell has strong, descriptive text.

Creating unique descriptions for each item can be time-consuming if there are thousands. You may also want to rework the page layout so that similar products can be combined.

You could group 12 identical-colored toasters on one product page. The dropdown menu allows customers to choose the color they want.

You don’t have to write 12 different descriptions. For a nearly identical group, you only need one description.

Both of these options are possible. In the end, it doesn’t matter how unique each product might be.

3. Take as many photos as you can of the products

Images are an integral component of ecommerce. Customers cannot touch or inspect products on your website, so you need to ensure they have the best experience.

This means you will need multiple images of each item. You should also show how the item was shipped or used.

If you have more photos, people will feel more confident when they buy products from your site. This is especially true for websites selling consumer goods. Customers shouldn’t buy something and then return it.

You should display photos of your products.

This is a caveat. Your pages should still load quickly. If too many images are slowing down someone’s shopping experience, then you can compress them to speed up.

4. Download additional videos

Images can be used to promote products, but videos and downloaded files are also great.

Videos are great to show products in action. As long as the video highlights an important product quality, it can be useful.

Videos can be hosted in the same location as your images if you have a group of developers. Users can scroll through your photos to locate your video.

You could create a separate area for videos to be posted on every product page to draw attention.

There are many ways to host and show videos on your website. They are just necessary to encourage customers to buy.

You can add additional downloads to ensure everyone has the correct information.

You have the option to upload specifications sheets, guides, nutrition information, and other data that could help you decide on purchasing a product.

This supplemental material can answer almost every question your customers might have before they have even had the chance to ask.

5. Write unique descriptions for categories

Pages can be used for product pages.

These pages are just as important as product pages. These pages can increase traffic and sales.

Each category page should have unique content.

Unique text will help your category pages rank higher on Google for certain keywords. This will increase your chances of driving qualified visitors to your site.

Google could use your site to provide data for its Knowledge graph if you have specific information about your category. Users can view your site on Google’s pages.

This is an excellent way to establish authority, reliability, and trustworthiness. It’s Google’s endorsement of your company.

If you have even a 1% chance of this happening for your business, it’s worth your time!

Category text can be a great way for pages to be more relatable, understandable, and engaging. Keywords can also be used to explain concepts and make pages more interesting.

Unique category titles will improve your website’s ranking for keywords that can bring you more customers.
