How To Use Schema Markup For Your Shopify Store

What are Section Blocks?

Section Blocks for Schema Markup Setup on Shopify Site

Step 1 – Create your JSON schema with a tool such as Google Schema

Step 2 – Create your Shopify snippet

You will need to log in to Shopify to create your Shopify snippet. Follow these steps: Online Shop > Themes, Actions, Edit Code. This is where things can get confusing. However, schema markup is very minimal and it is difficult to cause any serious damage.

This view will open the snippets directory and you can click “Add A New Snippet.” If necessary, you will need to rename your snippet to be easier to understand.

Step 3 – Add a snippet of code to the homepage

In the same view, locate the template directory in the left-hand navigation and click on “index.liquid.”

Enter % include “snippet” %, replacing “snippet name” with the filename you created in step 2. Click save.

Step 4 – Paste your Organization Schema (JSON LD) into the empty field

Save the file. Add script and div tags.

Step 5 – To make sure it can be picked up, use Google’s Data Testing tool.

Use Google’s Structured Data Testing tool to quickly check if you have properly implemented structured data. Simply enter your homepage to test it.
